CUSTOMER SERVICE

AVAILABILITY SCHEDULE

Every term we collect textbook requests from the faculty. As soon as we have most of the information, we post the book list here on our website (long before we have the actual books). So if you place a textbook order early, we hold it for processing until a few weeks before the term begins. UCLA Extension, Law and Medical school orders are processed as soon as the books are in stock.

Orders shipped beginning 3 Weeks prior to the start of term

MILITARY SERVICE REFUNDS

The Associated Students of UCLA understands the commitments of the members of our student body to their military service. As such we will consider, on a case-by-case basis, any issues regarding an active member of the armed forces called to service during their time at UCLA. These issues might include, among others the need to return textbooks upon withdrawal from the University for service in the armed forces. Please come to the Textbook Buyback department, in Ackerman Union on A-level, and ask to speak to a manager so that we may both address your specific needs and inform you of the necessary paperwork we would require to accommodate your request(s). Any issues which may arise as a result of the call to service must be addressed prior to leaving the University for deployment.

If you choose to shop in person, you will find textbooks in three main stores on campus, depending on your course of study.

FAQs

Why can't I see the "pick-up" option? The pick-up option is turned off a few days before the scheduled pick-up dates, to allow us time to fill and check all orders. Remember if you place a "pick up" order which contains items from multiple stores, each store will process their portion of the order and have it waiting for you at that store's location.

Since early orders are held, is there any advantage to ordering early?Yes! We fill the orders in the same sequence we receive them. So by ordering early, you improve your chances of getting lower-priced Used textbooks.

How long should it take before I get my books?Once order fulfillment begins, we process most orders in one to three business days. Ground shipping adds one to five business days. We recommend you order at least 8 business days before classes begin. Please know, we process all orders in the order they are received. The selection of 2nd Day only applies to the speed of shipping after we have processed your order.

Why did I receve a new copy when I ordered a used copy (or visa versa)?Although we will attempt to fill your order with books in your preferred condition, there are times when we do not have a title in the condition requested. When this occurs, we will automatically substitute what we have in stock and you will be charged accordingly.

Can you ship to Post Offices (P.O.) boxes?Sorry, we can only ship to P.O. boxes for Military orders. Military students must enter APO or FPO in the city field and select APO AE or APA AA for the state field.

How do I cancel my order? Please reply to the confirmaion email and type "Cancellation" and your Order Confirmation number in the subject line of the email. Upon receipt, we will attempt to intercept your order before it is filled, once orders are fulfilled standard return policies apply. Sorry, we can not refund shipping or pick-up charges once an order is filled.

What about "backordered" items? If there is any item on your order that has not yet arrived, we will notify you that the item is on "backorder". As soon as that item comes into stock we will fulfill the remainder of your order. You will only be charged for items as they are fulfilled. For Undergraduate (Ackerman Union) orders, we will attempt to fulfill backorders through the Wednesday prior to the start of the term. Afterwards any unfulfilled Undergraduate (Ackerman Union) orders will be automatically cancelled. All other orders, Graduate or Extension (Lu Valle Commons/Health Science), with backordered items will be fulfilled, unless you request the backorder item cancelled.

CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION FOR ORDERS

When you place an online order with the UCLA Store textbook department, an authorization is made against your credit card for all new books. When your order is processed, your card will be charged for the actual books, new or used, picked for you.

Your packing slip will indicate the actual charge to be debited to your credit card. The actual charge will replace the authorization when the order is processed.

PRICE MATCH

We'll match pricing from another store or commercial online site.

Purchase your textbooks from the UCLA Store Ackerman, the Lu Valle Commons Store, or the Health Sciences Store in order to participate. If you find the same textbook (same ISBN and edition), new condition only, in stock at any local bookstore or commercial website, bring your UCLA Store receipt and verification of the lower price offered, and we'll refund the difference. Online sites must be located in the United States and exclude peer-to-peer, auction, and marketplace sites, such as Amazon Marketplace, eBay, and Half.com. Subject to price verification at time of price match transaction. Customer must present current competitor's ad or printout of online price. Price matching must be completed before the refund deadline (Friday of Week 2), in store only. International and instructor editions excluded. Online quotes must be from a business, not an individual, and be in stock. See us for complete details. Does not apply to special offers or promotions, including mail-in offers, rebates, free-with-purchase offers, membership group or club pricing, limited quantity offers, bundled promotions, typographical errors, and special financing.

GUARANTEED BUYBACK

We guarantee we'll buy back these textbooks for half of what you paid.

If an instructor commits to using the same textbook for two consecutive quarters, we let you know at the beginning of the quarter that we will guarantee to buy these textbooks back for 50% of our selling price at the end of the quarter. Purchase your textbooks with the guaranteed buyback sticker from the UCLA Store, and sell them back before the end of finals week. Removing the sticker will invalidate the guarantee of 50% buyback for that book. This option allows more flexibility with marking and highlighting in the book. Other textbooks may qualify for 50% buyback, but these stickered titles guarantee that you will be able to sell back at the end of the quarter. Must be sold back in acceptable condition. Guaranteed Buyback options re not available online, however we will post a list of Guaranteed Buyback titles available in the UCLA Store for each quarter.

RENTAL

Save up to 60% when you rent your textbook.

Based upon your instructor's commitment to use the same textbook a number of times, your textbook options may include rental. Faculty are aware of the costs of higher education, and by using the same textbook for a minimum of four quarters, we are able to offer a rental option. This is the best option for those who will not keep their textbook for their personal collection or do not want to participate in buyback. Rental books remain property of the UCLA Store and must be returned to the Buyback Office in Ackerman Union or at the customer service counter at Lu Valle Commons and the Health Sciences Store. Rental books must be returned to the same store where you rented them by the Monday following finals week. Late fees may apply. Marking and highlights must be kept to a minimum. Available to full time UCLA students only. If not returned, the student must pay a replacement fee, the difference between the rental fee and new textbook price, or a hold may be placed on the student's records. Rental options are not available online, however we will post a list of Rental titles available in the UCLA Store for each quarter.
