TEXTBOOKS CUSTOMER SERVICE

AVAILABILITY SCHEDULE

Every term we collect textbook requests from the faculty. As soon as we have most of the information, we post the book list here on our website (long before we have the actual books). If you place a textbook order early, we hold it for processing until the books are in stock. Peak availability is a few weeks before the start of term.

FOR UPCOMING TERMS*

MILITARY SERVICE REFUNDS

The Associated Students of UCLA understands the commitments of the members of our student body to their military service. As such we will consider, on a case-by-case basis, any issues regarding an active member of the armed forces called to service during their time at UCLA. These issues might include, among others the need to return textbooks upon withdrawal from the University for service in the armed forces. Please come to the Textbook Services Counter, in Ackerman Union on A-level, and ask to speak to a manager so that we may both address your specific needs and inform you of the necessary paperwork we would require to accommodate your request(s). Any issues which may arise as a result of the call to service must be addressed prior to leaving the University for deployment.

  FAQs

How long should it take before I get my books? Once order fulfillment begins, we process most orders in one to three business days. Ground shipping adds one to five business days. We recommend you order at least 8 business days before classes begin. Please know, we process all orders in the order they are received. The selection of 2nd Day only applies to the speed of shipping after we have processed your order.

Why did I receive a new copy when I ordered a used copy (or visa versa)? Although we will attempt to fill your order with books in your preferred condition, there are times when we do not have a title in the condition requested. When this occurs, we will automatically substitute what we have in stock and you will be charged accordingly.

Can you ship to Post Offices (P.O.) boxes? Sorry, we can only ship to P.O. boxes for Military orders. Military students must enter APO or FPO in the city field and select APO AE or APA AA for the state field.

How do I cancel my order? Please email textonline@asucla.ucla.edu and type "Cancellation" and your Order Confirmation number in the subject line of the email. Upon receipt, we will attempt to intercept your order before it is filled, once orders are fulfilled standard return policies apply. Sorry, we cannot refund shipping or pick-up charges once an order is filled.

What about "backordered" items? If there is any item on your order that has not yet arrived, we will notify you that the item is on "backorder". As soon as that item comes into stock we will fulfill the remainder of your order. You will only be charged for items as they are fulfilled.

BUYBACK

*** See store hours. ***

  * Get Buyback Information or sell your textbooks online.*

Buyback prices are determined by campus demand for the book next term or national demand via used book wholesalers. When the UCLA Store needs a title for the following term, we attempt to pay a premium for it over wholesale buyback prices and online buyback prices. It is our preference to buy those books back from UCLA Students.

RENTAL – UCLA School of Law titles only

This is the best option for those who want a lower up front cost, will not keep their textbook for their personal collection or do not want to participate in buyback. Rental books remain property of the UCLA Store and must be returned to the service counter at Lu Valle Common Store. Rental books must be returned by the Monday following finals week. Marking and highlight must be kept to a minimum. If returned damaged or not returned, the student must pay replacement fees or a hold may be placed on the student’s records.

ACCESS CARDS INCLUDED WITH BOOKS

Online access cards are valid for only one use. As such, online access cards sold with books or packages are only available with new copies of the title.

If you want the online access card included with your order, please be sure to order a new copy of the book or package.

SHIPPING

We offer three shipping methods: Standard, 2nd Day and Overnight shipping (prices are indicated below). All shipments are via UPS. Select “Ground Service” for delivery to APO/FPO (military) addresses.  Please note that most international orders will have additional customs fees added upon delivery and these fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Oversized orders or shipments to remote international destinations may incur an additional fee. You will be asked to accept any additional charges before your order is shipped. Textbooks cannot be shipped to P.O. boxes. (APO/FPO boxes are OK)

Please know, we process all orders in the order they are received. The selection of 2nd Day and Overnight (when available) only applies to the speed of shipping after we have processed your order. Textbook orders are not scheduled for pick up or delivery on weekends.
